Presentation of the Luis Ferreira Alves Award Publication | 2025 Edition at ARCOlisboa 2026 – May 31st
On May 31st, at 2:30 PM, the Speakers’ Corner of ArtsLibris, part of ARCOlisboa 2026, at the Cordoaria Nacional, will host the presentation of the Luis Ferreira Alves Award publication | 2025 Edition, in a session led by Pedro Leão Neto, architect, editor, and coordinator of the publication.
Integrated into the ArtsLibris program – International Fair of Artist's Books, Photobooks and Self-Publishing – this presentation marks a new moment of public dissemination of an editorial work that celebrates and expands the legacy of Luis Ferreira Alves, a major figure in architectural photography in Portugal.
The session proposes a reflection on the relationships between photography, architecture, and contemporary publishing, taking as its starting point a publication that seeks to affirm architectural photography as a critical, culturally, and editorially autonomous practice.
The Luis Ferreira Alves Award publication | The 2025 edition, published by scopio Editions in partnership with the Spanish publisher Turner, is a bilingual edition (Portuguese–English) with international distribution. With a strong curatorial focus, it brings together the photographic series distinguished in the first edition of the award, accompanied by critical essays and texts that question the role of the image in the contemporary construction of architectural thought.
The publication's presence at ARCOlisboa 2026, within the context of ArtsLibris, reinforces its international vocation and the ambition to broaden the dialogue between publishing practices, visual culture, and architectural reflection, placing it within one of the most relevant Iberian contexts of encounter between contemporary art, independent publishing, and critical thought.
The presentation follows the session held in Barcelona in November 2025 and continues the international circulation of the project, consolidating the Luis Ferreira Alves Award as a platform for recognition, research, and dissemination of contemporary architectural photography.
The 9th edition of ARCOlisboa, taking place from May 28th to 31st, 2026, reaffirms Lisbon as an international convergence point for contemporary art. At the Torreão Nascente of the Cordoaria Nacional, ArtsLibris will once again establish itself as a privileged meeting place for authors, publishers, artists, and readers, with its Speakers’ Corner serving as a central venue for the presentation and discussion of publishing projects that question contemporary practices of book creation, editing, and circulation.
