A edição de 2025 do Prémio LFA nasceu de uma convicção partilhada: o legado de Luís Ferreira Alves — o seu olhar singular sobre a arquitectura, capaz de a enquadrar e dignificar — merecia mais do que memória. Merecia continuidade. Com 1.495 candidaturas oriundas de 99 países, esta edição inaugural superou todas as expectativas, confirmando que a abordagem de Luís Ferreira Alves à fotografia continua a ressoar amplamente. Fala a todos os que entendem a arquitectura não como objecto estático, mas como processo, lugar e presença.

Esta publicação assinala um marco fundamental, ao registar os resultados da primeira edição e, como referido nos Agradecimentos, ao homenagear as pessoas e parcerias que a tornaram possível. No centro deste feito esteve um júri de excelência, cuja experiência conferiu profundidade e credibilidade ao prémio. As visões conjuntas de Eduardo Souto de Moura, Hélène Binet e Paulo Catrica asseguraram um processo de selecção simultaneamente rigoroso e fiel à ambição do prémio.

Para além das palavras e reflexões dos membros do júri acerca dos fotógrafos distinguidos – Maho, Cyrille Weiner e Sergio Belinchón - e das menções honrosas, o volume integra ainda um conjunto de textos sobre as obras finalistas. The 2025 edition of the LFA Award was born out of a shared conviction: the legacy of Luís Ferreira Alves — his unique perspective on architecture, capable of framing and dignifying it — deserved more than just remembrance. It deserved continuity. With 1,495 entries from 99 countries, this inaugural edition exceeded all expectations, confirming that Luís Ferreira Alves' approach to photography continues to resonate widely. It speaks to all those who understand architecture not as a static object, but as a process, a place and a presence.

This publication marks a fundamental milestone, recording the results of the first edition and, as mentioned in the Acknowledgements, paying tribute to the people and partnerships that made it possible. At the heart of this achievement was a jury of excellence, whose experience lent depth and credibility to the award. The combined visions of Eduardo Souto de Moura, Hélène Binet and Paulo Catrica ensured a selection process that was both rigorous and faithful to the ambition of the award.

In addition to the words and reflections of the jury members on the distinguished photographers – Maho, Cyrille Weiner and Sergio Belinchón – and the honourable mentions, the volume also includes a set of texts on the finalists' works.
