Available online | Exploratory conversation and roundtable in preparation
The latest edition of Sophia Journal Vol. 10 No. 1, Landscapes of Repair: The Role of Photography and Film in Documenting the Legacy of Modern and Contemporary Architecture and Public Spaces, is now available online. This international scientific publication is dedicated to the critical exploration of the relationships between image, architecture, city, and territory.
Part of the journal's fourth thematic cycle, "Landscapes of Repair," this volume brings together theoretical contributions, visual essays, and field research that explore the role of photography, film, and other visual practices in the documentation, interpretation, and critical reflection on Modern and Contemporary Architecture, public spaces, and landscapes in transformation.
Starting from the urgent need to repair a planet marked by profound environmental, social, and urban crises, this publication proposes a humanist approach to urban transformation, valuing visual media as instruments of investigation, memory, representation, and critical intervention. The collected works address themes as diverse as the preservation of architectural heritage, urban renewal processes, environmental sustainability, collective memory, spatial justice, and new ways of understanding and representing the contemporary landscape.
This edition was coordinated by Guest Editor Félix Solaguren, in collaboration with editors Cristina Gaston Guirão, Jaime Ferrer, Lluís Angel Domínguez, Andrea Parga and Judit Taberna Torres.
Continuing Sophia Journal's commitment to promoting international debate around image and architecture, an exploratory roundtable discussion will be announced soon, bringing together the publication's editors and guests from different disciplinary areas. This session will explore some of the central themes of Landscapes of Repair, promoting a broad reflection on the contemporary challenges of architecture, landscape, heritage, and visual practices.
The entire academic community, researchers, students, professionals, and interested public are invited to consult, disseminate, and share this edition, contributing to the expansion of the circulation of published works and the debate surrounding the issues that mark contemporary territories.
