WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT: 1st SCOPIO INTERNATIONAL PHOTOBOOK CONTEST

Crossing borders and shifting boundaries: Architecture

We are pleased to announce that the winner of scopio International Photobook Contest 2014 is Eduardo Ribeiro. Congratulations, Eduardo!

The first Edition of SCOPIO International Photobook Contest had as title “Crossing Borders, Shifting Boundaries: Architecture”. It aimed to promote and enable the discussion surrounding the Photobook format, in particular looking at old, rare and influential photography books from the 20th century onwards. This edition had as partners and collaborators the Photobook Club no Porto, Photobook Club Coimbra, Photobook Club Lisboa and Photobook Club and it had also the support of Mercearia de Arte Alves & Silvestre.

This contest was focused on creating visual narratives based on city spaces’ physical and conceptual configurations - between urban and architecture - and on how people, in their daily lives and work, appropriate, accommodate and challenge city spaces.

The jury conferred awards to the projects: “Nó” (Eduardo Ribeiro, winner), ‘‘Apropriações” (Pedro Gonçalves, mention), and "Périphérie(s) Oubliée(s)" (Cristophe Gourdier, mention). The winner’s work will be published in scopio Photobook collection and the organisation has selected a set of self-published Dummies to be part of the CITYZINES showcase in scopio Network .
